🤖 Did you know? Windows 11 PCs can run Android apps |
When Microsoft announced Windows 11, the company made a big deal of how Windows 11 PCs would be able to run Android apps. Unfortunately, that feature wasn’t available at Windows 11’s launch. Luckily, Android app support arrived in February. If you’re in the US and you have a supported Windows 11 PC, you can install Android apps from the Microsoft Store. (We hope Microsoft enables this feature in more countries soon.) Microsoft has partnered with the Amazon Appstore for this, which means it has a more limited selection of apps than you might expect. Today, we’ve got instructions for installing the Google Play Store on Windows 11 so you can access a much wider world of Android apps on your PC. (By the way, if you’ve got an Amazon Fire Tablet, you can install the Google Play Store on that, too.) Yes, Android emulators have been around for a while even on older versions of Windows, but Windows 11’s Android app support is much better than Bluestacks and similar programs. PS: Modern Chromebooks support Android apps, too. If you’re a Mac user, you can run iPhone and iPad apps on your Mac—assuming you have an M1 Mac. -Chris Read more at howtogeek.com |
