Did You Know? The name of the style of pants called “chinos”, typically khaki colored and made from cotton twill, comes to English by way of the Spanish language. The cloth was originally made in China and Spanish soldiers called the pants made from it “pantalones chinos” or “Chinese pants”. When U.S. soldiers came home from the Spanish-American War, they brought the pants and the name “chinos” home with them. |
