After figuring out yesterday how to tell how many times an article has been bookmarked on, I started wondering how many times readers have bookmarked all the articles across the entire site, and which articles are most popular on

So I used my handy coding skills to write a small application to loop through and figure out the amount of times that each article has been bookmarked.

Grand Total

There were actually a number of articles that I removed from the list, since they were about Ubuntu Edgy or other software that is no longer current.

Unfortunately, I can’t distribute the application yet as it will probably get your IP address blocked by temporarily, because of the large volume of requests that it sends to their servers. (I got blocked for a few hours)

I’ve got an email in to ask them if I can resolve the problem and distribute the application.

Hey, I think this list is actually useful for something. This is a pretty good indication of what people like from this site, and probably a good indicator of what they’d like to see more of. Remember that big discussion about too many Vista posts or not? I think this is your answer!

That’s a really good point… seems to be a fairly even distribution of topics in there.
