Fix for Slow "Instant Search" In Outlook 2007

If Outlook 2007’s new Instant Search just isn’t… instant… there’s a patch from Microsoft that might fix this problem for you.

The problem is caused if you have a large .pst or .ost file. I suppose the algorithm just couldn’t handle it, but at least there’s a fix now.

I really like the Instant Search feature because it’s directly integrated into the application, and you can search in the current folder only, which isn’t possible in Google Desktop or some of the other email search engines.

My Outlook 2007’s instant search or regular does not work at all. It returns no results found when I know there are… Tried downloading this update; but, I suspect mine was already up to date. The patch returned Expected version not found…

    Any suggestions?

The above patch gives an error – the expected version of the product was not found on your system. No resolution as yet.

I’m using a add-in for Outlook called Lookeen to search for mails, etc. ‘Instant’ is the word to describe this the search speed for this tool :)

    Same error like MANISH.
Does anybody has a solution for it ?
I have Outlook 2007 SP2 running. Index is very slow.

If you read the Requirements, turns out this patch is only for Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1;Windows Vista;Windows XP Service Pack 2. I’m on Windows 7, running Outlook 2007 – I need a fix for this problem, too. I have a support email box to search with 10’s of thousands of emails in it. Performance on XP Outlook 2007 was fractions of seconds – performance on Windows 7 Outlook 2007 is minutes. uuuuuuuuugh.

Go to Windows Services and start the Indexing service. Worked for me!
