Embed True Type Fonts in Word and PowerPoint 2007 Documents

If you are the creative type that likes to use custom fonts in your documents or PowerPoint presentations, here is a cool tip to ensure that the readers of your document see the document with the fonts intact, just the way you want it to.

In this example I will use Word, but you can follow the same steps for PowerPoint also.

First, click on the Microsoft Office Button in the upper left hand corner and choose “Word Options”. Select the Save tab on the left.

Under the “Preserve fidelity when sharing this document” section, first choose your document.

Then check the box for “Embed fonts in the file”, and “Embed only the characters used in the document”. Now when you save that document, the fonts will be embedded for everyone to see.

Thank you Mr “howtogeek” concerning {word Options}{Save};then {preserve fidelity when sharing this document}. I tried & tried & tried & tried to find an answer as to what this feature (function) in Microsoft Word (office) does, but thier database it a messed up “no rythm or reason” to what you get when you use Microsoft’s Search function in their ‘HowTo’ section. :-| Your site by the way helped me find the direct, straight forward answer in “two shakes of a lambs tail” – old school expression. (LoL) Thank you again. I’m looking forward to helping support your website. Robert (aka Rabbit)

I got a file without the embeded fonts. So, I asked for the fonts which came me me in a TTF format. Now how do I embed that into my font family?

I just read the article on deleting / hiding fonts. Hid most of the fonts that I don’t use. Especcially hated wingding! Now I would like to know how to hide font size. I do not ever anticipate a using a font size 72 pts. I don’t know that I need anything more than 36 points, mostly for powerpoint at that size. So is there a way of hiding the larger font sizes?

This works only on the current document. You have to do it EVERY TIME.

I did what you instructed. Should I see an identifier (like the word “Embedded” beside each font?) How do I know that the command actually worked? Thanks
