Friday Fun: Haunt the House

By Akemi Iwaya on October 29th, 2010

Friday is here once again and it is time to scare up some fun while waiting to go home. This week you get to be a ghost who needs to scare all of the people out of his house.

Haunt the House

The object of the game is to get all thirty people out of your house so that all is peaceful and quiet again for you as a ghost.

You should not skip the intro the first time that you play the game. It will show you how to move around and possess different household objects during your quest to remove those pesky humans! To play the game you only need to use the four arrow keys (or W, A, S, D) and your space bar.

You start the game in your secret/hidden bedroom on the top floor of the house. In the upper left corner is a counter to help you keep track of the number of humans remaining in your house. At the bottom is your “spook meter”…it will show the current house atmosphere and the level of scaring that you are able to accomplish.

Once you start moving you will notice a “glow” around household objects when you are close enough to possess them. Press the space bar to possess the item and start scaring those humans using the arrow keys!

Note: On occasion some of the humans will not react to a particular scare tactic, so be ready to try something else on them!

Some of the household items are a lot of fun to use when scaring people! Notice the “spook meter” at the bottom…our little ghost is getting more powerful.

You can see that the chandelier is still swinging here after our ghost left it and took control of the decorative plates on the wall.

The snake monster in the bathroom cabinet really gets them running!

The floating table is a classic here.

Almost have everyone out of the house now!

Ah…peace and quiet once again!

When you finish the game you will see the realtor placing a For Sale or Warning: Unsafe sign up and your score/time. Killing people by scaring them too badly does hurt your score…it also means that you have new ghost friends too!
