Sony/Philips Digital InterFace (S/PDIF) is a serial interface for transferring digital audio from DVD, CD, and other disc-based players to stereo amplifiers, television sets, and other equipment.

Although S/PDIF can be transferred over RCA cables, the majority of consumer devices with S/PDIF also feature TOSLINK cable ports, which allow for higher quality fiber optic connections between devices.
