The Roku Channel, a collection of free TV shows and movies, is now available online— meaning you don’t need a Roku device in order watch.

Remember when Hulu was free? It offered all kinds of ad-supported goodies, without a subscription. The Roku Channel isn’t that good, but it’s got a similar feel to it. And there’s a decent selection here: the Matrix movies, Kitchen Nightmares, and Nightmare on Elm Street, just to name a few. Scroll through this and you’ll probably find something you want to watch. You’ll need a free Roku account.

Everything is ad supported, of course, so don’t bother with this if you don’t like seeing ads. Still, it’s a source of free content, so it’s hard to complain too much. I wonder if Roku will expand this to other platforms. It would be pretty funny to watch The Roku Channel on an Apple TV.
