Share your Muxtape address here. It should be fun to see how large of a group we can get! I look forward to seeing everyone's selection of music ... should be a very vast range of styles!

Oh ... and if you missed it check out my article on the whole Muxtape idea:

Great idea. Unfortunately mine are all in WMA format since I ripped them from my own CD.If someone tells me an easy way to convert some to mp3, I will post some more. Here is the one and only mp3 I have - which happens to be amongst my favorites in popular music. http://whs.muxtape.com/

I have plenty of CD's here too - but mostly classical music. Btw, French is easy - if you grow up with it. lol
I found a few converters on the web - but I don't know what they are. Media Monkey looked real easy, but you can only convert 5 titles and then you have to buy the product. That sucks.

@Bartman, the problem is, that I do not have the physical CD's where I am right now. But I have all my WMA music files on the system because I always carry all my files from location to location on a two and a half inch disk.

@whs: The download for dBPowerAmp has both versions. It will have pro features for 21 days and then revert to free only features. From looking at the page the audio converting is a free feature so you can download it and convert audio files without a usage time limit.
Also for converting WMA files you will need to download and install the Windows Media plugin for the program from http://www.dbpoweramp.com/code.....-audio.htm

jd, Thank you. I actually got that far including the WMA plug-in. Had everything installed. But when I saw 21 day trial, I threw it out - lol. Thank you for clarifying that for me. I also had considered Media Monkey. That looked like a neat program. Do you have a view on that? I don't mind to pay a few bucks - but it must be worth having.
Jack, have to wait for my conversion tasks. Still fishing in the dark.

UFF, Here they are. The conversion was a breeze - took about 3 seconds per song. But the upload was a pain in the butt. And I did not realize the limit of 12 songs at first. So I had converted a lot more. But that's for next time then. http://whs.muxtape.com/

Ya mysticgeek, I followed your recommendation after jd clarified this matter of free and fee. It is super simple to use and I did not realize that it would convert a file in a couple of seconds. Awsome! Thank you again. The muxtape setup, however, is a little lengthy and it is too bad that you cannot chain several songs together for upload - at least I did not see that option.

Yep. I know Muxtape isn't perfect yet ... but they are still in their beginning stages. Yeah I usually don't recommend "pay for" software ... but dBpoweramp is one exception. I love that program. In fact, if you have a dual core processor it is one a few programs that actually will utilize both. I did a write up about it a while ago ... I should probably update it and include more of the features.

@mysticgeek, is there a way to make a second and third tape on Muxtape? I was trying to make one from my classical music collection, but I do not see the option for more than 1. And if I sign in with a second user id, they will probably reject me on the basis of the email address. I guess I could trick it with one of my other emails.

2 questions:-

1) Is 20MB the total upload or individual songs?
2) How do I edit a track out of the middle of an mp3 file?

Posted 8 years ago

whs
Posts: 17584

To edit a track you can use e.g. Magix Music Cleaning which I once bought. You can also try with Windows Movie Maker. Just import the music and snip away.
As to the 20MB - it looks to me that this is total. Because when I started uploading it said that I had room for 15 songs (I guess based on the size of the first song). But when I was all done, there was only room for 12.

@mysticgeek, thanks for the answer. I understand. In case you have any communication with them, multiple tapes and upload of multiple songs at the same time (e.g. a playlist) would be nice to have. But else it is a swell idea - also the link to amazon in case you want to buy a song.

Here is my second tape. It's all classical music. Bring some time because it runs for more than 2 hours.
http://lisa808.muxtape.com/ Had to use a little trick and use the wife's ID.

Addition: Since the titles on the muxtape are not very telling and since some of the Geeks did not know what they were looking at, here are the titles:

- First 3 tracks: Piano Concert Nr.3 by Rachmaninoff
- next 3 tracks: Concerti by Vivaldi
- next track: well explained - Debussy
- next track: Harpsicord concert by J.S.Bach
- last 4 tracks: Symphony Nr.4 (the Italien) by Mendelsohn-Bartholdi

In case you have not noticed, there are 3 Concerti from Vivaldi on there. I thought it would be too dull to repeat the Quattro Stagione..
PS: I have updated this Muxtape post and added the titles. The uploaded stuff is really not clear. I have to figure out how to do that better next time.

@Aleeve:

Kick @$$ muxtape! I added you. The only band I am not a fan of is Slipknot ... I have never seen what people get out of them. I dig Corey Taylor's Stone Sour project. Slipknot has just always pissed me off for some reason. OK enough with my rant against slipknot. Good stuff Aleeve!

@jack:

I actually went and bought the Knights of the Abyss album "Shades" since listening to your tape. Thanks for turning me on to them.

@WHS

Do you have any Bach you could put up?

btw ... I think I am going to change my tape in the next couple days. I am thinking either going blues, old school thrash, or Stoner Metal/Rock

glad you liked my tape

But how on earth can you not like slipknot! they are probably my fave band at the moment apart from Chimaira
who are amazing - check them out some more
I have all their albums and I love them all!

Listen to the songs:
End it All, Resurrection, Power Trip, Dehumanizing Process, Inside The Horror, Left For Dead, Threnody, Painting The White To Grey -all on youtube i think!

@Aleeve

I totally am into Chimaira! I have all their albums.

But nope ... Slipknot dude... I have tried and tried ... I have given them more chances than I would most bands ... but I just cannot get into them what so ever. I saw them live at Ozzfest in ... whatever year that was .. 2001? Anyway ... I dunno ... just am not into them.

@mysticgeek i know what you mean about slipknot some people are crazy about them and then others just don't like them at all and there's not really a in between and chimaira rocks the socks off of anything very good taste in the tunes :)
