Unable to install Java JRE 6.0 these are the errors I get in this order:

1. Failure setting file's time/date stamp
2. Java(TM) Update fails to apply changes to your system
3. Error 1722. There is a problem with this windows installer package. A program ran as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.

I un-installed, rebooted and tried to re-install, downloaded the latest version and tried again, time and time again same errors appear.

Does the update launch in admin mode? Might have to make sure and run as administrator.

Also, the offline version would probably work better.

Txs SG,

Tried both, it runs in Admin and I am using the offline version, all with the same result.

This thread has a work around that seems to help:

It suggests you do a Windows install repair.

I'll give the install repair a shot.

I got it done, first installed version 5.01_10, then 6.0 and last version 6.0_02

Glad to hear you figured it out... that's definitely a strange workaround!
