@bone head if you wouldn't mind changing your interests in your profile. some people might find them a bit offensive and others will probably agree with me on this too. and because there are some younger people on this forum too.

As long as you realize that learning is a lifetime education, that's good. And do not put so much importance on money. Yes it is nice to have some, but as long as you can eat every day, you will be alright.

I believe he was blocked for inappropriate language after being warned, and a bunch of posts about things that are illegal. (not sure exactly what, but I trust our mods)

It's unfortunate, but sometimes in order to keep up the primary goal of the forum (friendly help for everybody), we have to be a little harsh with a few people that don't want to play by the rules.

Seems like we have a fair complement of youngsters here, and also 20 somethings.

Looks like we may need more oldsters. I'm 61, still whs's junior.

And it's not the "Golden Years". More like the "Metallic Years": Gold in your teeth, silver in your hair, and lead in your butt!

Bob Jam, I like the "Metallic Years". But once you are even beyond those, you don't have gold in your teeth any more. Advantage: you need not see the dentist any more, you can use their "mail in" service. Plus, you are eligible for a job in Wall Mart.

Hey LH,

Yes, Scott's link explains Helmsley's comment. She died a few years back, and left her millions to . . . get this . . . her dog! (And I think it was one of those disgusting prissy French Poodles.)

Leona Helmsley was famous (or "infamous" depending on your perspective) for her disdain for people of lesser economic status, which certainly included the entire middle class, and also some of the upper class. She was the kind that would push you out of the way, as you hailed a taxi in the rain, and jump in the cab and tell the driver to go (don't know if she actually did that . . . just an example . . . but she probably did).

Is that picture really of you? If so, I didn't know that you could walk away with the trophy for "Ugliest Person on the Planet".

whs,

Actually, several of our neighbor's in their 80's (we live in a retirement community, where the only sound is an ambulance siren at 3AM coming to get someone who just had a heart attack . . . otherwise it's very quiet) work as WalMart Greeters. They like it, and enjoy chatting with strangers. Personally, I'm cranky myself and am much more aligned with Leona's attitude. If I were a WalMart Greeter I probably would get fired the first day for telling a customer to "f*** off, I don't talk to strangers or little people". (Actually, my own low, very low, economic status would qualify me for an insult from Leona).

BTW, yes, my teeth are falling out at an alarming rate:

The collar was from a cervical fusion surgery I had. Toothless and spineless.

OK, LH, take your shots.

I prefer "Low Energy Lifestyle" to "lazy" . . . but they both mean the same thing.

It's like calling a light switch an "Artificial Illumination Mode Selector". Sounds geekier. For example, "Would you please turn the Artificial Illumination Mode Selector to the O-N position?" Same as saying "Turn the light on!".

Now I think I'll take another of my many naps (part of the "Low Energy Lifestyle").

I am under 100, actually right up there with whs. Not very geeky. And not much good at banter, though enjoying following along here. Some of you have been very helpful in my ongoing love/hate relationship with Wintel. Thanks to you and the Geek's forums and articles, I finally have Vista more or less under control. At least I can use it fairly reliably now, and I feel more or less at home with it. But it still feels ponderous where my XP machine feels nimble. I think XP will be with me for a long time yet. I follow the Vista forum daily because it contains new information all the time.

Just see, I'm 19!

Can you imagine, I thought BobJam is a young boy, whs is just a graduate, and LH is of my age...! But it came out all OPPOSITE!
But, through this post, I want to convey a message to all my senior friends (to LH, BobJam, whs, Raphoenix, The Geek, Scott, ScottW, and everyone older than me...)

"I respect all of you... I consider everyone my friend. If I ever seem rude, or make a mistake, or if you think that i need to change my attitude, plz dont hesitate and tell me. You have the right to correct me... Thanx"

To the people on HTG who are of my age, I just wanna say "Enjoy!"

You guys obviously have too much time on your hand. Who is going to produce the GDP if already the youngsters know nothing than hanging around the internet.

Aleeve, you are going to have to explain that one before I see any point in it. My only impression from seeing that is that learning to speak English that way at such a young age is one reason they are so hard to integrate.

@WHS, I'd rather they hang around the internet, than out in the malls, or cruising the streets. At least this way I'm pretty certain it's harder for them to get into trouble. ( of course it appears Aleeve can do that all on his own.LOL)

I can hang around in the streets too you know. Well, to be honest, that's not really my thing - I enjoy trips to the cinema with friends, but otherwise we stay in generally (on computers!) Not really a 'hanging-around' kind of person
I think that video was passed on to me by a friend. Spacegold, there is very little point in it - just I (personally) find it hilarious, because of the boy's sincerity in the way he says it, sounding all innocent!

What you trying to say Odeho19? :P

madmacs-Didn't take it as disrespectful! I poke fun at myself because I feel if you can't laugh at yourself you have no right to laugh at anyone else.If people want to join in at my expense,I think that's great.Life is too short to take everything serious, especially yourself!Besides growing old is manditory:growing up is optional. My wife claims I'll never grow up.Hope she's right!

On elpelpa's theme (I don't know the source of a lot of these quotes, but Will Rogers is likely one candidate):

"I was always taught to respect my elders, but it keeps getting harder to find one." - Anonymous

"Don't take life seriously... Its not permanent." - Anon

"Life is a gamble at terrible odds - if it was a bet you wouldn't take it." - Anon

"If you can't see the bright side of life, polish the dull side." - Anon

"Not one shred of evidence supports the notion that life is serious." - Anon

"If you don't have a sense of humor, you probably don't have any sense at all."

"He is happiest, be he king or peasant, who finds peace in his home."
-Johann von Goethe

"Don't pet the sweaty things and don't sweat the petty things"

"When you wish upon a falling star your dreams can come true. Unless it's really a meteorite hurtling to the earth which will destroy all life. Then you're pretty much hosed no matter what you wish for. Unless it's death by meteor."

And the real essence of elpaelpa's theme:

"Age is a very high price to pay for my maturity. If I can't stay young, I can at least stay immature!"

Just say that you were adopted & your biological mother threw out your birth certificate, so you have NO IDEA how old you are. Then just throw a number at the person. LOL!!!

It still shocks me that I recently made it to a half century. I don’t feel it… well not after a couple cups of coffee in the morning or an occasional shot of jack in the late evening. Seems the older I get the more I have yet to learn…

@ZS: That article states

14-20: Mosquito, AKA Teen Buzz Some ringtones are difficult to attribute to a specific age group, but not this one, because people over 25 can't hear it. This is the ultrasonic "Mosquito alarm" deployed to keep teens away from shops. They're turning our weapons against us.

I want this ringtone !!
