(Solved) - how do i change connection from dial-up to a Ethernet

i have a pc given to me by my grandma and as you can tell by i got it of my grandma its quite old so it is set up for dial-up and when i plug a Ethernet in it says connected but no internet access its not the internet as i have 3 laptops on it and 1 xbox will someone be able to give me step by step instructions on how to sort this THANKS.

It could be that the LAN adapter is simply does not work. You may need to update the drivers to the latest. You may need to put in a new LAN adapter. I had a computer recently that that symptom could not be fixed without reloading the operating system. I would not work wired, wireless, or with a new adapter even after exhausting all googled suggestions.

control panel>internet options>"connections" tab> under dial-up and virtual private network select the dial-up connection and click on "remove" and make sure that "never dial a connection" option is bubbled in.

Edit: I remembered because it was one of the most common problems a dealt with at my previous job.
