I am attempting to create my first PC build but i am a noob when it comes to hardware :p can any of you guys help me with this?
An important note is that this build will be running Ubuntu 12.10 64bit if that makes a difference when it comes to hardware.

Intel Core i3 3220 Dual Core CPU ( 3.30GHz, Socket 1155, 3MB Cache, Ivy Bridge, 55W, Intel HD Graphics 2500, Advanced Vector Extensions)

Mother board -
Gigabyte XKT-1155 Z68AP-D3 Motherboard (Rev 1.0)

Case -
Aerocool Strike-X GT Toolless Mid Tower Gaming Case with Red LED Fans

OCZ OCZ600MXSP-UK ModXStream Pro 600W ATX Power Supply

DVD drive -
Asus DRW-245ST

These are the items that i have already brought and added to my current Ubuntu build and all work fine (Advent DT1404 if this helps?)

Wireless card -
TP-Link TL-WN781ND 150Mbps Wireless PCI Express Adapter

Corsair CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9B 8GB 1600Mhz CL9 DDR3 Vengeance Memory Module Kit

Graphics card -
Sapphire 11191-02-20G HD 6570 2GB DDR3 Graphics Card

Hard drive -
I shall be using the hard drive from my old computer, an Advent DT1404. As far as i know (comparing images on google) the 1TB hard drive on the DT1404 is Sata and not IDE (IDE being that big thick cable riight?). I would like to give the specific hard drive but i have extreme trouble finding any specifications on the Advent DT1404 as the product is no longer being produced.

Please also note that i would like to play some games which require medium graphics but not the high end sort of Crysis 2 games.
I tried to follow the Lifehackers guide to building a PC (http://lifehacker.com/5828747/how-to-build-a-computer-from-scratch-the-complete-guide), Just incase anyones wondering and i have never built a pc from scratch (I've just upgraded my old one about 4 days ago the first time i touched hardware!) If anyone has any tips or reccomendations feel free to tell me. :)

Oh by the way, I'm going to try and use the adaptor on the front of my Advent, i have no idea what type of cable it is though or if its going to fit, if anyone can tell me what an adaptor thing looks like(SD card, Micro SD card, etc etc....)

*And can we keep the build as cheap as possible but still have some speed to it? I was thinking about changing the mother board to something that supports AMD CPU's since i heard they were cheaper for there power*
