Is it possible to make desktop icons stay where I want them, or are we stuck with left side arrangements? I would like to be able to move individual icons wherever and snap them to grid.

I had this problem for several weeks since I'd discovered I had a malware that attacked my Windows 7 All malware have been cleaned out and all is working OK. except my desktop icons dilemma. I've tried everything possible within my system; but, have to uncheck the desktop 'view's align to grid, rearrange my icons the way I want them to be, only for the check mark to return on reboot every day.

Isthere a solution to this? Could I have a broken link that needs to be repaired? If so,how and where I can find a repair/.
