CCleaner Tutorial(26 posts)
Well, thanks a TON !
Yesterday, I looked for it on the web, and didn't find anything helpful...
Thanks, and very nicely explained !!
EDIT: Which program did you use for the image-editing (like, for adding the arrows and text stuff...)?
Sarah, Nice tut.
Hatryst, Here is the link for the last free version of Fast Stone Capture: http://www.aplusfreeware.com/categories/mmedia/FastStoneCapture.html - else it costs $19.95.
A similar option with equal features is Jing ( http://www.techsmith.com/jing/ ). I like that because you can program it to a function key for easy access.
What a fine job. Bookmarked, ready for the next enquiry regarding registry boosters/cleaners/optimisers!
And a nice addition from Scott.

@SJ , what a easy, simple, straightforward visual, to using this very useful tool, for helping keep computers running smoothly.
Thank you for your time in explaining, the processes so clearly, now hopefully, even a very new comer(there are still many out there)! will not be scared and can be reassured and pointed to this sticky, including Scott's addition.
As many of us already know, this is just one of the, help/advice and good reliable work ,that HTG Forum is known and recommended ,
Everyone should Bookmark, HTG, as a 'Daily must have to VIew''.!!!!!!
Doing something for HTG is always such a joy - all the positive input has given me a huge smile to start my day :D
And thanks Scott for those additions. I knew about CCenhancer, but didn't have the link at hand, so I skipped it ;)
I didn't know about the flash cookies. I've added that, but need to add a remark:
you have to add the exclusion first and then the inclusions, otherwise settings.sol does get deleted anyway!
As posted here on HTG, and referenced again by Scott
And a direct link to HTG ini file
May I add some caution using CCleaner on Windows 7. Two months ago I downloaded CC and after running the application the windows explorer.exe (not IE explorer) failed to start displaying instead a msgBox which the following text "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Please install a program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel." After downloading a fix and having re-established the explorer.exe programs assossiation I run CCleaner again, for I suspected it to be the cause of this problem, and without fail CCleaner did disable the explorer.exe programs assossiation on each occasion, assumedly cleaning out a valid registry entry.
A registry fix for this problem is available @:
Good Article. I am using CCleaner since last 1 year and is very satisfy. I have just use CCenhancer and it worked well. But two questions:
1. It say more than 500 applications, but I can see only a few, o I suppose only those applications which are installed on my PC, show up in that list. Am I right ?
2. Whats * at end of apps name?
Might be, but Kate is right. And this is meant as a tutorial so an ongoing discussion would clutter things. Therefore I will now close this thread and any more questions can be asked in a new topic ;)
