What does a triple-arena packed with 12,000 gamers and their rigs look like? It’s all the nest of cables, cases, and caffienated drinks you imagine it to be. Read on to peek inside the world’s largest LAN party.

DreamHack started out as a small gathering of friends in the basement of an elementary school and grew to become the largest LAN party on earth–since 2006 more than 10,000 gamers a year have gathered in the three massive halls located in Jönköping, Sweden. So what does a gathering of that scale look like? Over at ExtremeTech they took a tour, snapping pictures of the halls, the napping geeks, and everything in between. Hit up the link below to take a tour (Note: there is one NSFW photo in the mix).

I live in Sweden and I’ve been to Dreamhack twice, Winter 2008 and Winter 2010, and although I’m not that much of a gamer, it’s every bit as awesome as one would expect.

I visited Dreamhack for the first time this year and took some pictures that you can check out at (scroll down a b bit on the site).

Can only agree with Tomas above. It’s awesome even if you´re not a hardcore gamer.

I agree; I’m not much of a gamer these days… but just the logistics of rolling out 12,000 temporary workspaces with power and 10mb internet connections is pretty impressive.
