MadPad Turns Ambient Sounds into a Personal Soundboard

By Jason Fitzpatrick on September 8th, 2011

iOS: From the clack of your keyboard to the slam of your car door to the jingle of your keys on the counter, your world is filled with sounds. MadPad captures them for on-the-fly music mixing magic.

If you’re looking for a fun way to take sounds from your environment and remix them into little tunes and tracks, it doesn’t get much more entertaining than MadPad. A soundboard offering from Smule–the same folks behind popular iOS music apps Magic Piano, Magic Fiddle, and Ocarina–MadPad is just as fun and intuitive to use as the company’s other offerings. You fire it up on your iOS device, record sounds from your environment (your device’s onboard camera snaps a pic to go with the sound so you’ll remember which is which) and then you can mix the sounds together to create tunes generated by the ambient sounds in your environment.

Check out the above video to see what happens when you take MadPad to a hardware store (this one featuring a Honda Accord as the source material is also great) and then hit up the link to grab a copy for your iOS device. MadPad $0.99 for the iPhone and $2.99 for the HD iPad version.
