Modified Counter Bell Adds Old-Fashion Notifications to Your Computer [Video]

There’s no need to settle for electronic beeps and dings when DIY mods like this one exist; hack an old-fashioned counter service bell to notify you of new emails and more.

New emails, instant messages, twitter mentions: whatever interests you this bell and the accompanying electronics project can be modified to suit. You’ll need to be handy with a soldering iron for some basic soldering and basic programming–if you want to customize the bell to provide alerts for things besides email which the default code provides for.
