Cydia Search Offers Easy Web-based Searching of Jailbreak Apps

If you love your jailbroken iOS device but you’re not a fan of Cydia’s clunky search interface, Cydia Search offers a speedy and easy to navigate web-based alternative.

Jailbreaking is awesome and the Cydia store is performing and invaluable service for the jailbreak community. It is, however, kind of clunky to search with it. Cydia Search gives you a nice, web-based, way to search through all the various core and supplementary Cydia repositories from the comfort of your spacious monitor and with your keyboard and mouse. It’s a great improvement over pecking away at your iPhone screen.

How is Cydia clunky?? I have never had a problem searching for anything inside of Cydia. With version upped to 1.1 the speed has improved drastically and the search function has been redone as well making it much easier to search for what you want.

Hugh I think that cydia can be somewhat slow and although I agree with you that the latest update has helped enormously, it still needs to do that “updating packages” thing and I find the search function slow and some people will like the computer navigation better. Anyway I guess this new service can’t hurt even if it’s not necessary.

Funny… I couldn’t care less about the searching that I can do fine on my iPhone or iPad.
The site however do have two things that cydia still don’t one because Saurik doesn’t think anyone would like it and the other one because well, when did cydia last get a new helpfull feature?

    1. The list of recently updated packages actually shows all changes, it shows older packages that has got updates as well as new packages, Cydia only shows new packages and updates for installed (and the ones you select to show either way) ones, no option to show all changes.

    2. The ability to rate apps! Rock actually had this, ratings and reviews I can’t understand why cydia still doesn’t have this, then again Cydia still isnt saving a list of apps you have installed for easy reinstall after rejailbreaks, something that was promised shortly after Rock was bought :/

sigh, Cydia feels pretty stagnant at times…
