Set Up Opera’s New Snapshot Dev Channel on Your Computer

By Akemi Iwaya on May 5th, 2011

Do you want to keep up with the latest features included in Opera Browser automatically? Then all it takes is a few minutes of your time to set up Opera’s new snapshot dev channel on your computer.

To get started browse over to the Opera Next homepage and download the current alpha version. The page will auto-detect which operating system you are using…

On Linux systems you will be re-directed to the snapshot directory to choose the appropriate install file for your system. If you are using Windows then the download dialogue will appear for the page shown above.

After you have finished installing the file you will have a new separate entry in your menus for Opera Next.

You can see both of our Opera installs side-by-side here. One quick and easy way to identify the new dev channel releases at a glance is the Blue Menu Button.

If you decide at a later date to disable the automatic snapshot updates then enter “opera:config” into the Address Bar, expand the Auto Update Section, and deselect Download All Snapshots.
