How did you get the Firefox button to not show text, and just the symbol in your screenshots?

  2. AsianAngel

@BobbyPhoenix – Here are two extensions that I use to tweak the UI on the 4.0 series…the first one will reduce the menu to an icon button as shown in those screenshots. ^_^

    Iconic Firefox Menu

will this replace Fire fox 3? and will it affect the other users on my computer?

  4. BobbyPhoenix

    @AA Thanks!

  5. AsianAngel

@John – If you go with the regular straight installation then it will install to a separate default “4.0 Beta 9” folder in Program Files. But if you go that route it will have access your regular Firefox 3.6 profile and extensions (likely to have extensions not match up with the 4.0 version, etc.).

If that thought makes you uncomfortable then the best way around that is to either install it into a portable format yourself or to wait a few days for to release a beta 9 version.

If you want to go ahead and create your own portable beta 9 now this article will walk you through the process step-by-step. ^_^

Update Portable Firefox the Easy Way

    Hope this helps! ^_^

    @BobbyPhoenix – You are very welcome. ^_^

Mine prompted me of the update, it’s pretty. Shaping up well!

Disabelling Firefox tabs scrolling isn’t possible anymore when you set tabsminwith to 0.

Is there another way to fix this?

  9. Unknown

Oops my mistake. browser.tabs.tabMinWidth don’t exist anymore. Sorry.

I’m using Firefox 3.6.13 right now. Will it be updated automatically?

  11. Nav

    little slow in my pc…..

Nice! Tabs on the title bar like in Chrome. Maximize vertical space on widescreen monitors!

  13. AsianAngel

@Hatryst – Since you are using 3.6.13 you will not receive a prompt to update to this…if you had beta 8 installed however then you would definitely get the prompt. ^_^

It’s not bad for a Beta, but be careful watching YouTube and Google Video. I had it stall on me while I was getting my MST3K fix last night. I had to hard boot twice. Other than that, it is very good. Keep in mind that it is a beta, so it isn’t perfected.

I had FF 4 beta. Every update changed stuff around, like the home page button moved all the way to the extreme right. The refresh button moved as well. With the last 2 updates there is no longer a button next to the back/forward browser button in the upper left that allows you to back out of a website (in one step) where you have changed pages a number of times. The only way you can get out is by backing for each time you changed pages. When you get one of those pages that won’t let you use the back button, you have to close the whole thing down, since that button is no longer there. Otherwise, I liked it, but I went back to 3.6 for now.

Just updated and the page loading speed difference is almost hard to believe. Wow…

There’s a portable version of FF 4.09 in ( ). Their softwares are awesome, I always use them for my portable apps.

What is the setting/add-on to get rid of the title bar (like in screenshot 2) because I have big blue bar that displays nothing.

  19. Sszecret

@Cass Felps : I think you can do that now by right clicking on either the forward or back button. It does the same thing :)

  20. AsianAngel

@pitman – The tabs should have moved to the title bar automatically with the upgrade to beta 9. Do you happen to be using any extensions that focus on tabs at the moment (or have been recently)?

  21. pitman

@AsianAngel: I have been using “Iconic Firefox Menu” even disabling it doesn’t work, does it matter that I have XP ?

  22. AsianAngel

@pitman – Check your e-mail for some ideas and questions that I came up with. ^_^

  23. pitman

    browser.tabs.drawInTitlebar was already “true”.

    Userstyles didn’t work.

I have removed FF3.6.x(completely) before installing the beta.

But thanks for trying anyway m(._.)m , I’ll just wait until its fixed in b10 or the stable one.

  24. AsianAngel

@pitman – I am REALLY sorry to hear that none of those ideas helped out. :( :( I will keep a watch to see if anything pops up with other people having the same problem (and if they have a solution). ~_^
