Luigi Installs Any OS on Google’s Cr-48 Notebook

Luigi is a firmware toolkit for custom flashing of the Google Cr-48 notebook; if you’ve got one to play with you can customize it to run any OS.

Hexxeh, a programmer with a taste for Chrome hacking, has released a firmware hacking tool for Cr-48 notebooks called Luigi. Once applied, you can install the OS of your choice to your Cr-48 notebook using a USB flash drive with the OS installer loaded or USB disc drive with an install disc.

The link below includes detailed instructions for running the hack and for restoring your machine to its original state. You’ll need to void your warranty (by opening the case and switching the “developer” switch on to enable custom ROM flashing) but if you’re not afraid of a little warranty voiding it’s a pretty straight forward hack.
