Awesome WebGL Demo – Flight of the Navigator from Mozilla

By Akemi Iwaya on December 28th, 2010

Are you excited about the possibilities that WebGL is opening up for browsing the web? You can see an example of just how awesome it looks with this WebGL demo that Mozilla has put together called Flight of the Navigator.

From the blog post: The first thing to say is that this is a web page–HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Some people we’ve shown this to have assumed it was a movie until they saw the real-time Twitter and Flickr integration. This is a regular web page, and uses the web to full effect. However, it doesn’t look like a regular web page, and therein lies much of the power and potential of the web coming with Firefox 4.

It will take a few moments to load, but once ready just click Start to begin your awesome flight.

Here are some additional images taken from the demo…they have a few blurry spots here and there in them since the images were taken while the demo was in progress…

Here is a video of the demo for your enjoyment!

Note: FOTN demo shown running in Firefox 4.0 beta 8.
