Shorten Any URL With Google’s Shortener

Want to shorten URLs with Google’s URL shortener? Now you can do it directly from their site.

Google just opened the doors to their own URL shortener today.  You’ve likely noticed links in Twitter posts from Feedburner; now you can make your own links.  Just browse to, insert your link, and you’ll get a shortened link ready to use on Twitter or elsewhere. also offers stats on your shortened URLs just like  And, it’s got one extra feature … add .qr to the end of any address to get a QR code for it!

    I already made them, before, with an unnoficial API. Now I’m sad because everybody can do it too :'(

    Pretty clever, but the shortcut created was very complicated to type … original URL was typed faster. And it’s case sensative … I typed the shortened URL in without wathching cases and it took me to a floozy’s web page on Facebook … type it in with correct casing and it took me where I wanted to go tried it a couple times just to be sure). I guess it’s a benefit if you have VERY long URLs to type frequently, but for the extra aggrevation, I’ll keep to typing the URL out. Thanks for sharing though!
