Another Friday and you’re bored of browsing crappy content on YouTube?  Today we change things up and look at Meevid which contains only high quality video content along with social aspects.

Overview of Meevid

Meevid is a high definition video sharing portal boasting videos in glorious HD resolution and quality with file sizes up to 2GB.  The site’s concept was built around delivering real High Definition content to the masses.  Everything I have watched on Meevid is definitely the highest quality I have seen compared to other “HD Sites”.

You don’t need an account to browse and watch the different HD content they have available.

To download video files and use the social aspects you will need to create an account.

Now after watching the video’s you can use several social bookmarking options, leave a comment, or download the video.

Though just getting started they do have several cool channels of different content.  To experience one quality video check out Fighter Pilot Operation Red Flag.

From what I have seen so far Meevid definitely has a lot of potential with the best consistent video quality I have seen on other video sites.  The other cool feature is the social networking aspects.  The only caveat to watching the videos with the h.264 codec is it not ideal for older PC’s because it does require quite a bit of power.  To remedy this they also convert all of the videos into DivX format which is easier on system resources but still great quality.  Over time Meevid looks quite promising to be a top contender for HD video sites.
