CES is known for kicking off every year with new and innovative products. Unfortunately, due to current circumstances, many companies decided not to attend CES 2022 in person, but that didn't stop them from unveiling some of the most exciting devices coming this year. Here are How-To Geek's favorites.

Before jumping into the list of How-To Geek's Best of CES 2022 award winners, I want to highlight that our sister sites, Review Geek and LifeSavvy, have covered this year's trade show and have also awarded the products that they deem as the best. Make sure to check out their coverage of CES 2022.

Best in Show: Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra

Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra
Roborock

Robot vacuums are incredible for automating the cleaning process of your home. Unfortunately, their major downfall is that you have to interact with the machine fairly frequently, especially for a device that is meant to be hands-off.

Related: The Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra Is a Robot Vacuum Powerhouse

Roborock, with the announcement of the S7 MaxV Ultra, is trying to fix that annoyance with the help of the robot's accompanying dock. Although self-emptying docks are nothing new, the S7 MaxV Ultra's charging station can also automatically refill the device's water tank used for mopping as well as clean the mop found on the underside of the appliance.

Because of this innovative design and functionality, we believe that the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra is the best product to be unveiled at CES 2022. We cannot wait to try out the robot vacuum and put the docking station and cleaning power through our review process.

Best Laptop: Dell XPS 13 Plus

Dell

Dell routinely makes some of the best laptops on the market. At CES 2022, the company announced the XPS 13 Plus, a refreshed and visually updated laptop that builds on top of one of Dell's most popular computer models.

Related: The Dell XPS 13 Plus Is a Monster of a Laptop

Beyond its 12th-generation Intel Core 28W CPU, the XPS 13 Plus has a refined and minimalized design. For example, its keyboard has a much lower profile, its touchpad (which relies on haptic feedback instead of moving pieces) is disguised within the wrist rest, and the function keys are now a row of capacitive touch buttons (but don't call it a touch bar).

We don't have pricing for the Dell XPS 13 Plus just yet, but it's slated to be available for purchase later this spring.

Best Router: Netgear RAXE300

Netgear

Wi-Fi 6E is here, but to take advantage of the speeds offered by the latest standard, you'll need to upgrade your home network. If you're in the market, Netgear's new Nighthawk RAXE300 router might be the best router for you.

Related: Netgear's Nighthawk RAXE300 WiFi 6E Router Has It All

This tri-band Wi-Fi 6E router packs six pre-optimized antennas, eight Wi-Fi streams (including two 6Ghz streams, four 5Ghz, and two 2.4GHz), and a 2.5-gigabit ethernet port. Basically, the Nighthawk RAXE300 can handle just about any internet speed your local ISP and modem can throw at it.

Netgear will sell the Nighthawk RAXE300 for $399.99 sometime in the first quarter of 2022. An exact date has not yet been announced.

Best Chromebook: Acer Chromebook Spin 513

Acer Chromebook Spin 513
Acer

Chromebooks have a bad reputation of being underpowered and cheap computers. The Acer Chromebook Spin 513, a follow-up to one of the best Chromebooks available for purchase, is far from that. It is a laptop perfect for almost everyone, whether you're using it for schoolwork, simply browsing the web, or anything in-between.

Related: Acer's New Chromebook Spin 513 Is Affordable and Powerful

The Spin 513 features an 8-core MediaTek Kompanio 1380 CPU, military-grade MIL-STD 810H durability, and a 13.5-inch 2256x1504 resolution display with a 3:2 aspect ratio. All of this means that the Chromebook allows you to be productive and worry-free about damaging it while on the go.

Acer will begin selling the Chromebook Spin 513 in June 2022 for $599.99.

Best Computer Accessory: HyperX Cloud Alpha Wireless Gaming Headset

HyperX Cloud Alpha Wireless Gaming Headset
HyperX

There's nothing worst than a pair of headphones with a dead battery when you're ready to jump into a gaming session. HyperX is making it so that you don't need to remember to plug into your headphones as frequently with the announcement of the Cloud Alpha Wireless gaming headset and its 300-hour battery life.

Related: HyperX Cloud Alpha Gaming Headset Gets 300 Hours of Battery

But these over-ear headphones pack more features than just a big battery. In addition to the removable noise-canceling microphone, the Cloud Alpha Wireless includes DTS Headphone:X spatial audio for a 3D-realistic gaming experience.

Expect the HyperX Cloud Alpha Wireless gaming headset to hit store shelves in February 2022 for $179.99. HyperX already makes some of the best gaming headsets, so we have extremely high hopes for these.

Best TV: Samsung Neo QLED

Samsung Neo QLED 8K TV
Samsung

CES is synonymous with new TVs, and Samsung brought out some of the best all-around TVs you'll be able to get your hands on in 2022. In addition to an updated The Frame (discussed below), Samsung unveiled 4K and 8K versions of the Neo QLED.

Related: Samsung's Neo QLED TVs Impress in 4K and 8K Models

The standout feature of the Neo QLED is the addition of 144Hz inputs (an improvement of last year's 120Hz panels) for enhanced gameplay with next-gen consoles. The TVs also include a 14-bit backlight for more accurate brightness, Shape Adaptive Light Control, and an AI-driven Object Depth Enhancer.

As with many announcements, final pricing and availability information has yet to be announced. Expect the 8K models to cost a premium due to the nature of the new screen technology.

Best Smartphone: Samsung Galaxy S21 FE

Samsung

The Samsung Galaxy S21, introduced in 2021, is one of the best Android phones overall. If you're looking for a similar-quality phone without as much power and is a bit cheaper, look no further than the Galaxy S21 FE (Fan Edition).

The Galaxy S21 FE is less a budget Android phone and more of an affordable version of Samsung's flagship. This means you get a comparable design and performance, but you sacrifice some of the premium design materials, get less RAM, and the cameras are a slight downgrade in megapixel.

Related: The Samsung Galaxy S21 FE 5G Is a Lot of Phone for $700

But at the end of the day, if you're looking for a reasonably priced Android smartphone that is solid across the board, you can't go wrong with the Galaxy S21 FE.

The Samsung Galaxy S21 FE will go on sale unlocked and through carriers starting on January 11, 2022. The 6GB of RAM model with 128GB of storage will cost $699.99, while the upgraded 8GB/256GB unit will set you back $769.99.

Best Mobile Accessory: Chipolo CARD Spot

Chipolo

Thanks to the Apple AirTag, personal Bluetooth tracking devices have become more popular. Of course, Apple wasn't the first company to have this idea. Chipolo has been making tracking devices for a while, and its latest product is the CARD Spot.

Related: Chipolo CARD Spot Uses Apple's Find My to Track Your Wallet

The Chipolo CARD Spot is a thin "wallet finder" tracker that works exclusively with Apple's Find My network. It's about the size of a credit card and only 2.4mm thick but still can produce a loud 105db sound to help you find it. Plus, the battery lasts up to two years.

We're happy to see Chipolo hop on board Apple's Find My network. With the recent controversy around Tile's new parent company, it's nice to have alternatives. It would be preferable to have something more universal that doesn't require an iPhone or iPad---Chipolo also has trackers for Android---but it's hard to beat the large user-base of the Find My network.

You can pre-order the Chipolo CARD Spot right now for $35. Units should begin shipping in February.

Best Smart Home: Eve MotionBlinds

Person using the Eve MotionBlinds cord control
Eve

You might have installed smart lights and switches in your home, but have you automated your blinds? If not, Eve MotionBlinds should be on your radar.

These battery-powered smart blinds allow you to raise and lower the shades using your smartphone or voice assistant, set a schedule, or use the connected cord to quickly change its position. Unfortunately, for now, the MotionBlinds only support HomeKit, which means you'll need an iPhone or iPad to set up and use the household gadget.

Related: Eve MotionBlinds Will Future-Proof Your Smart Home's Windows

The good news is that 2022 is the year that the new Matter smart home platform is set to launch, and Eve's HomeKit and Thread-enabled products---including the MotionBlinds---are primed and ready. Once the update is rolled out, the smart blinds should work with almost every smart home ecosystem.

Eve MotionBlinds are available for purchase now from SelectBlinds. Pricing and availability will vary based on your window size and which fabric you choose.

Best Gaming: Razer Blade 15

Razer

If you like RGB and premium gaming laptops, the updated Razer Blade 15 introduced at CES 2022 might be perfect for you. This laptop might look thin and sleek, but it's definitely packing a ton of power that can handle anything you throw at it.

Related: The Razer Blade 15 Has Everything a Gamer on the Go Needs

As you might expect, you'll find Intel's and NVIDIA's latest and greatest CPUs and GPUs under the hood. The device can be specced up to an Intel Core i9-12900H processor and a GeForce RTX 3080 Ti graphics card.

There are also multiple displays you can choose from based on your gaming preference. These include Full HD 360Hz, QHD 240Hz, and UHD 144Hz configurations.

As you might expect, the Razer Blade 15 isn't cheap. The base configuration starts at $2,499.99 and goes up as you increase the specs. Razer plans to begin selling the laptop on its website on January 25, 2022.

Best Computer Monitor: Samsung Odyssey Neo G8

Your high-end gaming PC isn't worth much if your monitor doesn't match your computer's performance. Samsung has made sure that no matter what game you're playing, the Odyssey Neo G8 will be able to handle it.

Related: Samsung's Odyssey Neo G8 Is the Monitor of Your Dreams

The Odyssey Neo G8 features a 4K screen with a 240Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time, support for FreeSync Premium Pro, G-Sync, and has a 2,000 nit peak brightness. To sum all of that up, this is one crazy gaming monitor that will blow away almost all of the best computer monitors.

The pricing and availability of the Odyssey Neo G8 have not yet been announced by Samsung.

Best Audio: Hisense U5120GW+ Soundbar

Hisense U5120GW+ soundbar, subwoofer, and satelite speakers
Hisense

I don't know who needs to hear this, but your TV's built-in speakers just don't cut it. One of the easiest ways to fix the poor audio quality is to add a soundbar to your entertainment setup, and Hisense's newly unveiled U5120GW+ might be the speaker system you should look into.

Related: Hisense's 2022 U-Series Soundbars Bring the Noise

The Hisense U5120GW+ packs a total of 14 speakers, 570W of audio power, and support for Dolby Atmos. This package includes two dedicated overhead speakers and a standalone subwoofer.

Hisense did not announce pricing for the U5120GW+ soundbar, but we don't expect it to be the most budget-friendly. Expect more information to be unveiled closer to the audio system's Spring 2022 release window.

Best Automotive: Motorola Android Auto MA1

Motorola Sound

Most new vehicles come with support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, but it can be hit-or-miss on if the entertainment system allows for wireless connections. Thankfully, the Motorola MA1 easily transforms wired-only systems into wireless ones.

Related: Motorola's MA1 Makes Your Car's Android Auto Wireless

The Motorola MA1 dongle plugs into the USB port that is normally used for Android Auto and then becomes the wireless bridge to your phone. Simply pair your device to the MA1 over Bluetooth and then call it a day. Going forward, your smartphone should power the Android Auto experience without plugging it into your car.

Grab the Motorola MA1 for $89.95 starting on January 28, 2022.

Best Health: Withings Body Scan

Withings Body Scan scale
Withings

Smart scales are capable of measuring much more than just your weight. Withings newest health-focused product is the Body Scan, and it can analyze almost your entire body.

Related: Withings Body Scan Takes the Smart Scale to the Next Level

With the help of 4 weight sensors, 14 ITO electrodes in the base, and 4 electrodes in the handle, the Body Scan can perform a 6-lead ECG, capture a segmental body composition analysis, and more. All of this information is then saved in a companion app that tracks your weight, assesses nerve activity, and stores all other measurements.

Withings is still working on CE/FDA clearance for the Body Scan. If all goes to plan, the smart scale should be available for purchase in the second half of 2022.

Best Household Product: Moen Smart Faucet with Motion Control

Moen Smart Faucet with Motion Control installed in a kitchen
Moen

Chances are you've had a poor experience with a public faucet that used your presence to turn on the water. I'm happy to report that, based on our own testing at CES 2022, Moen's Smart Faucet with Motion Control offers a much better user experience, while also including gestures for changing the water's temperature.

Related: Moen's Smart Faucet with Motion Control Is Fully Touchless

As mentioned, hand gestures can be used to turn the faucet on or off and change the water temperature from cold, warm, and hot. If that isn't enough, you can also control the water using Google Assistant or Alexa voice commands or Moen's mobile app.

But don't worry, if you don't fancy a fully touchless faucet, Moen offers a model that includes motion control sensors and a physical handle.

Moen hasn't announced pricing and availability just yet, but the faucet will come in 16 styles with multiple finishes that should be able to match any kitchen.

Best Fitness Tech: Vitruvian Trainer+

V-Form Trainer+
V-Form

You might have heard about smart treadmills and bikes from Peleton and Echelon, but what about internet-connected weights and resistance equipment? Vitruvian's Trainer+ is fitness tech that offers a different type of workout.

Related: Vitruvian's Trainer+ Is the Next-Generation Home Gym

In its most basic layout (without any of the optional accessories), the Trainer+ system consists of a base that you stand on and two connected handles. The resistance of the bands can be changed using a companion app on your smartphone anywhere between 0lbs and 440lbs.

Additionally, part of the smart system is that the Trainer+ can modify the weight on the fly to best fit your workout.

Like many other smart fitness technologies, the device comes at a premium. The Vitruvian Trainer+ costs $2,200 and requires a $50 per month subscription for classes and more.

Best Design: Samsung The Frame (2022)

Samsung's The Frame
Samsung

It's no secret that TVs are ugly. Depending on your home's aesthetic, a black box hanging on your wall might throw off the entire room. Enter Samsung's The Frame, featuring a customizable design that can be made to fit any home style (and display gorgeous pieces of art throughout the day).

Related: Samsung's The Frame TV Is Back for 2022 and Better Than Ever

The Frame's design hasn't been updated compared to the 2021 model, but Samsung did improve the display. The inclusion of a new matte, anti-reflective screen should enhance the viewing experience from all angles in all lighting situations. This change will help the TV look even more like a picture frame when displaying art from Samsung's Art Store.

The 2022 version of The Frame will come in sizes ranging between 32" and 85". Unfortunately, Samsung did not announce pricing or availability at its CES 2022 event.

Best Concept: Dell Concept Flow

Dell Concept Flow in use at a desktop computer
Dell

In a perfect world, various pieces of technology should be able to seamlessly work together the moment you walk up to something like a monitor, mouse, and keyboard. At least, that's the world Dell is pitching with Concept Flow.

Related: Dell's Concept Flow Is the Docking Station of the Future

Differing from projects like Apple's Universal Control that allows you to share a mouse and keyboard between a Mac and an iPad, Dell's idea is essentially a wireless docking station that connects to everything. Walk up to a desk with your computer and everything auto-magically pairs without the hassle of plugging things in or going through a setup process.

Of course, Concept Flow is, as the name implies, just a concept. It will be quite some time before you can expect perfect compatibility and connectivity between entirely different devices. But the idea of all of your technology seamlessly working together one day is a goal I think everyone can get behind.

Editor's Choice, Chris Hoffman: Alienware Concept Nyx

Person remotely playing a video game using Ailenware Concept Nyx
Dell

Alienware's Concept Nyx is an attempt to fuse many of the advantages of cloud game streaming with powerful local gaming hardware. What if you had your own powerful game server at home instead of in the cloud?

Related: Alienware Concept Nyx Is Your Own Local Gaming Server

Concept Nyx envisions a powerful local game server that streams games to all the devices on your local network. Imagine streaming four different games to four people at once from the same system. Imagine seamlessly switching between devices, moving from an app on a smart TV to a lightweight laptop or tablet---without depending on a cloud server.

By streaming over your local network, the system could have much less latency and better graphical quality than an over-the-internet cloud gaming solution. Any device on your network could play any game in your central library. You control your own server, so you'd never have to wait in a queue to play a game.

If game streaming isn't for you, that's fine. But there's a lot of hype around streaming games to lightweight devices without a lot of processing power, including smart TVs, tablets, phones, and average laptops without powerful graphics hardware. While Concept Nyx is not a product you can buy today, it's nice to see a future technology where you can control your own game-streaming server.

Editor's Choice, Elizabeth Henges: Waverly Labs Ambassador Interpreter

Multiple people communicating using Waverly Labs Ambassador Interpreter
Waverly Labs

Linguistics are fascinating, but also difficult. Learning a new language isn't exactly an easy feat for most, and is often a life-long learning process. But the Ambassador Interpreter looks like it'll help tear language barriers down in ways only bleeding-edge technology can.

Related: Waverly Labs Ambassador Interpreter Aims to Upgrade Translation

The Ambassador Interpreter can translate 20 different languages in near real-time, allowing you to have a fluid and accurate conversation with someone that may not know your native language. Just as importantly, the translator can also detect different dialects, helping to avoid awkward translations if different words or pronunciations are used.

Breaking down barriers and making interactions easier for everyone---technology like the Ambassador Interpreter is what really feels like the future.

Editor's Choice, Dave LeClair: Razer Enki Pro SyperSense

Razer Enki Pro SyperSense gaming chair
Razer

Sometimes a chair is more than just a chair. Sure, at its core, the Razer Enki Pro HyperSense is a comfy place to sit while gaming. However, thanks to the partnership with D-Box, it's also designed to further immerse you into your gaming experiences with haptic feedback that feels like something out of a high-end movie theater.

Related: The Razer Enki Pro HyperSense Is a Next Level Gaming Chair

Of course, the fancy HyperSense chair is based on the existing Enki Pro chair design, so it's comfortable and made with high-quality materials that'll stand up to everything a dedicated gamer can throw at it. The bulk of the chair is made with a soft Alcantara material, and the rest features a supple leatherette.

If the comfort and extra immersion weren't enough, Razer also rounded out the Enki Pro HyperSense with a Chroma RGB headrest that gives the chair the next-level look dedicated gamers seek. Yes, it's a chair, but it's also a statement piece for any gamer.

Editor's Choice, Benj Edwards: Samsung Eco Remote (2022)

The Samsung Eco Remote introduced in 2022
Samsung

Aside from losing a TV remote, one of the most annoying things about them is when they run out of batteries: You have to actually stand up and interrupt your TV session. That's why Samsung's new Eco Remote is so amazing: It has three different ways to keep itself charged, no replacement batteries required.

Related: Samsung's Insane New TV Remote Charges via Wi-Fi

One of those ways seems almost magical. In what might be a first for a mainstream consumer electronics product, the Eco Remote can harvest stray Wi-Fi radio waves from your router and use them to charge a capacitor inside the unit. While you can't get much power this way, a TV remote typically uses so little power that this technique becomes practical, especially when it can spend its idle hours sitting and trickle-charging on ever-present Wi-Fi waves.

In addition to Wi-Fi charging, you can also flip the Eco Remote upside down and place it under a lamp or in the sun to charge. To charge even faster, plug it into a USB charger. It's fascinating to think of similar solar and RF charging technologies coming to other low-power devices in the future, which could keep millions of batteries from ending up in landfills every year.

Editor's Choice, Joe Fedewa: Labrador Caddie and Retriever

Labrador Retriever robot in use in a kitchen
Labrador Labs

I love technology---obviously, look what I write about for a living---but I'm not super sold on most "home robots." However, Labrador's Retriever and Caddie robots look like genuinely handy helpers to have around the house, especially if you yourself have trouble getting around.

Related: Labrador's Caddie and Retriever Robots Could Change Lives

The Retriever and Caddie are basically robot storage carts. They can carry things around for you, both inside and on the flat top. The robots can hold up to 25 pounds and they move around at a nice walking pace. Users can send them to programmed "bus stops," which are specific locations in your home (e.g. "by the couch").

The Retriever can raise and lower to meet specific heights, plus it has a conveyer belt arm to grab trays. The Caddie is a more simplified version. I just really like the idea of a mobile storage caddy that can be wherever you need it to be. It reminds me of having a butler following you around.
