Friday Fun: Carveola Incident

By Akemi Iwaya on March 18th, 2011

Has it been a long and boring week at work? Then how about something to liven things up a bit? In this week’s game you receive orders to join a newly formed task force comprised of soldiers from allied and former enemy units at the end of World War 1. Your mission is to investigate strange sightings near a mysterious deserted trench line.

Carveola Incident

The object of the game is to defend the trenches and eradicate the zombie menace at all costs. You must hold the line no matter what!

Each level of the game will provide diary-based entries to fill in the story as you struggle to survive against the zombies. Towards the bottom you can see the number of soldiers you have available to place along the trench.

You can manually place your soldiers in specific positions based on your strategic plans or click on the Random Button and have the game choose their positions for you. When you have finished placing your soldiers click on Continue.

Before you start the first level you will be presented with the following game play overview to help familiarize you with the screen layout and how to play.

Game Controls

  • Use the mouse to aim and click the left button to fire
  • Use the mouse to move left and right along the trench
  • Press “R” to reload your weapon
  • Click on available artillery icons (upper left corner), then click on the ground to order artillery strikes
  • Press “P” to pause and resume the game

You can monitor your remaining rounds before reloading in the upper left corner, trench health in the middle-upper area, and watch for incoming zombies using the combination map-radar in the upper right corner.

Checking in the upper left corner you will be able to tell when your artillery weapons are ready to go. Where are all those zombies coming from?!

At the end of each round you will see your stats for each level and for the game as a whole. So far, so good. Click Continue to move on to the Weapons Shop

You can add more soldiers to your group here but keep in mind that each type will have different prices and abilities in combat, so choose wisely! Once you have unlocked more types then you can select which personal weapon and artillery strike type to use in the next round.

Our poor group of soldiers have survived fighting the zombies during the daytime, but the arrival of darkness adds a whole new level of fear!

Luckily our soldiers have new reinforcements to help out!

More zombies! Notice the combination map-radar…there are darker tan areas visible now representing areas along the trench outside the screen’s current visual range. You will need to hurry towards those areas to help defend the soldiers under your command.

Hold the line Sergeant and good luck!
