Android Nougat brings a host of new changes to the mobile OS, with native split screen being one of the most prominent. The problem is that it requires developers to enable the feature before itâll work, making some (many!) apps incompatible right. But like always with Android, thereâs a workaround. Best of all, itâs easy peasy.
The first thing youâll need to do is enable Developer Options, if you haven’t already. Then, head into the Settings menu, again by pulling down the notification shade a couple of times and tapping the cog icon.
Scroll down to the âDeveloper Optionsâ entry, then tap it.
There are a slew of options in this menu, but donât get overwhelmed. Weâre literally looking for one, and itâs stupid-easy to find: just scroll all the way down to the bottom. The last entry reads âForce activities to be resizable.â Thatâs what youâre looking forâgo ahead and hit the slider next to it.
Once itâs enabled, youâll need to restart before you actually see the benefits. When thatâs finished, go ahead and give it a whirl. Apps that formerly wouldnât work with split-screen mode should now work fine for the most part.

Itâs worth keeping in mind that the results can still be buggy hereâyou are, after all, forcing an app do something it isnât supposed to do. Most of the time, however, it works quite well.
