New Java Update to be Available for Download later Today (Updated)

Oracle is due to release an update to patch critical vulnerabilities that malware authors have been exploiting in current (and older) versions of Java later today. Anyone who needs or actively uses the Java Runtime Environment for work or gaming should watch for the update to go live and promptly install this update as soon as possible.

Versions that Updates are to be Available for:

  • JDK and JRE 7 Update 17 and earlier
  • JDK and JRE 6 Update 43 and earlier
  • JDK and JRE 5.0 Update 41 and earlier
  • JavaFX 2.2.7 and earlier

Note: If you do not need Java on your system, we recommend uninstalling it entirely or disabling the browser plugin.
