Replica Myst Book Actually Plays all the Myst Games

Runaway 1990s gaming hit Myst features books that had the power to transport you to other worlds. One dedicated fan has gone so far as to make a book that, when opened, transports you to the Myst universe.

From hand-crafting the book itself to populating the guts of the book with carefully selected (and frequently modified) parts, Mike Ando left no part of his project uncustomized. The end result is a stunning mod and tribute to the Myst franchise–a beautiful book you can open and play through all the games in the series.

Check out the video above to see it in action then hit up the link below to check out Mike’s build album.

Myst Book [via Hack A Day]

Jason Fitzpatrick is a warranty-voiding DIYer who spends his days cracking opening cases and wrestling with code so you don't have to. If it can be modded, optimized, repurposed, or torn apart for fun he's interested (and probably already at the workbench taking it apart). You can follow him on if you'd like.

Cool idea, though a bigger screen and sleep when the cover is closed would make it more practical.

I know I’m becoming jaded on all these embed a mobo/system into something hacks, because instead of “Hey, that’s neat!”, my first thought was this “What is this guy thinking? That screen is too small!”. Ben Heck’s ‘make something into a giant impractical “almost a laptop”‘ are getting less and less interesting, too.

Sigh, to be young and naive and easily impressed again.

I was at the library awhile back, and bought MYST. Fifty cents. lol.
Turned out it would only work on a 32 bit system, and mine is 64.
That was the one time I thought I might try a computer game.
    Is it any good?

kinda cool, screen is a bit small, but so what. It does make me wonder if anyone has done this kind of mod to make a new/old school ereader yet.
