Stanley Kubrick did not skimp on details in his gripping film adaptation of Stephen King’s novel The Shining. The pivotal scene where Jack’s wife Wendy finds the massive pile of some 500 odd sheets of paper piled up beside his typewriter with “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy” typed over and over, was not simply a few sheets of copy; the entire pile was all typed out by Kubrick’s secretary Margaret Warrington.
