Friday Fun: Digital Upgrade – Decoded

By Akemi Iwaya on August 17th, 2012

In this week’s game you get to play a Tetris-style game and unlock a mystery at the same time. Can you advance far enough to unlock the secret history of the young girl who was “locked away” or will it all remain a mystery forever? There is only one way to find out!

Digital Upgrade – Decoded

As soon as you click on New Game on the Main Screen you will be presented with the first part of the young girl’s story…the further you go in the game the more of her story you will learn.

Note: You can easily skip each and every story part if you prefer to focus solely on game play.

This is how things look when you start out. You can move the pair of game balls to the left or right using your Right/Left Arrow Keys, then when you have them in the desired position use the Down Arrow Key to drop them in place. The nice part is that the game balls will not drop until you use the Down Arrow Key to drop them, therefore giving you plenty of time to pick the best position.

Note: You can see the game ball types available in game play on the left and see the next pair that will appear on the right.

As you create sets of three, four, or more game balls they will disintegrate as seen here.

We managed to capture a screenshot of this set of four game balls just before it disintegrated…

Once you reach a certain score, a new part of the young girl’s story will be revealed along with a new game ball that is highly reminiscent of the Mozilla Thunderbird icon.

Note: The background story concerning the young girl is odd at best and may be considered violent and/or twisted depending on your point of view.

We managed to capture a screenshot of the new game ball on the next turn-over round…as above it will be followed by another piece of the young girl’s story.

Sooner or later you will reach the point where the game board fills up and it will be game over…

Note: Once you advance far enough you will be able to unlock new powers (outlined on lower right side in red).

After you have gone as far as you can you will be presented with your Total Memory Score and can submit it or choose to return to the Main Game Menu to play again by clicking on Continue. Good luck and have fun!
