I personally think wallpapers/desktops are for people with empty desktops otherwise they just make it harder to discern what you have on your desktop.
I use just a solid color for that reason.

in response to Howard… If you orgasnise, you get to keep your desktop clean, and see the wallpaper, hile still having your folders handy..

For me, wallpaper is an emotional one. I use photos of various trips I’ve taken. I don’t have many icons and use folders for related icons or documents. Unfortunately, I haven’t yet figured out how to “simplify” them a la Win XP. Win 7 keeps insisting on making them look occupied by “papers” with icons on them and I don’t know how to change that despite hours of trying. The photo minimises the unwanted “look”. A minimalist desktop (which I used from 95 back) is still the “color” I use for my program backgrounds.

Really enjoy these :-) Simple, but attractive without cluttering up your desktop – brilliant!

Right click on desktop. Scroll to windows 7 basic, or windows classic and click.

If neither looks good for you, maybe download windows classic shell.

    Hope one works.
