Repurpose a Napkin Holder as a Vertical Laptop Stand

By Jason Fitzpatrick on March 8th, 2012

Vertical laptop stands are all the space-saving rage right now, but $50 for a lightweight hunk of plastic or metal seems a bit steep. This hack turns an inexpensive napkin stand into a vertical laptop stand.

Courtesy of IKEAHacker’s read Chad Parrish wanted a vertical laptop stand but he didn’t want to spend a bunch of cash to get one. While wandering the halls of IKEA he saw the Fantastik napkin holder–at $1.99 it was definitely the right price for experimenting with. He took it home, added a few little pieces of stick of foam to the internal corners–the blue ovals in the photo above–and called it good. It stores his laptop vertically, gives him access to all the ports, and all for a couple bucks.
