USB Powered Valentine Syncs Photo Albums via Dropbox

By Jason Fitzpatrick on February 14th, 2012

At first glance this DIY Valentine is adorable geeky: it’s handmade from acrylic with red LEDs embedded in it that light up when the pieces are held together. Hidden inside each half–adding to the charm–is a USB drive that automatically syncs picture albums via Dropbox.

The DIY hearts project has several layers. First, each half has a battery, LED array, and proximity sensor. When the halves are apart, they look like frosted glass–when they are united, they light up and glow together. That alone would make for a pretty adorable and geeky DIY project. Hidden inside the two halves is a USB drive that, when connected to a computer, automatically launched a portable version of Dropbox and syncs a shared photo album. Whatever goes on one half, syncs to the other.
