The Offline Files service maintains activities on the Offline Files cache where it responds to actions taken on these files.

Overview
The Offline Files feature is only available in Business, Enterprise, and Ultimate versions of Vista. The Offline Files service performs maintenance activities on the Offline Files cache, responds to user logon and loggoff events, implements the internals of the public API, and dispatches interesting events to those interested in the Offline Files activities and changes in the cache state. With Offline Files you are able to access files stored in a shared or network folder even while the network copies are unavailable. To do this, sselect the network file you want to make available offline. The file network file is copied and stored on the computer as an offline file.
This service is Automatic by default and should not be disabled.
