MMC (Microsoft Management Console) allows administrators to customize administration tools and easier User Interfaces.

Overview

MMC simplifies everyday system management tasks. As a system administrator MMC allows you to create specific tools for handling tasks. Microsoft provides standard tools with the operating system and third party tools are also available. Creating the specifics you need within the console is straight forward and each tool comes with a set up wizard.


Using Microsoft Management Console

To open Microsoft Management Console in Vista simply type "MMC" (without quotes) into the search field in the Start Menu. To add tools supplied by Windows, select File \ Add / Remove Snap-in then browse through the tools you wish to add.
