If you use Windows Live Writer and you notice that strange characters are showing up on your blog or in the RSS feed, it might be because of the automatic text replacement.

Here's an example of the characters I'm talking about:

Open up Tools \ Options, and then on the Preferences section you'll find two checkboxes: "Use typographic characters", and "Use smart quotes"

If you write out command line or programming tweaks, you are likely going to want to turn off both of the options, because quotes being replaced will screw up command lines.
