Application Experience Service allows backward compatibility of older software applications to work with Server 2003 and all editions of Vista without the user having to manually run compatibility mode

Overview

This service processes application compatibility cache requests for applications as they are launched. Simply put, old software will work with Windows Vista. This is a new service launched with Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1. The purpose is to work behind the scenes and look up and apply software updates to the OS so a user does not need to run the application in compatibility mode.

System Requirements

Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 or later, Server 2008 and all versions of Vista.
