Answer: Nero Burning ROM

Nero Burning ROM is a disc authoring application for Windows and Linux that derives its name from an emperor that ruled almost 2,000 years before the application was first released.

In 64 A.D. a horrible fire swept through Rome, ultimately destroying roughly 70 percent of the city and leaving half of the city homeless. At the time of the fire the Roman empire was under the rule of Nero Claudius Caesar Augustus Germanicus. Because of the speed in which Nero rebuilt Rome in the fashion which he deemed fit, many questioned his motives and many rumors circulated that he had either outright started the fires or allowed them to run unchecked in order to ravage Rome and allow him free reign to rebuild it the way he wanted. Over time this rumors coalesced into the phrase that is oft repeated even today: Nero fiddled while Rome burned.
