How to Make the Windows 8 Maps App Display Distance in Kilometers
Press the Windows key to switch over to the Start Screen then open the Maps App.
Now press the Win + C keyboard combination to bring up the Charms Bar then open the Settings Charm.
Then click on Options.
On the right hand side you will see an option to switch over to Kilometers.
