Overview
RVS 2010 is a completely new product that uses a combination of antivirus, antimalware and a virtual system to protect your computer from all types of viruses and unwanted system changes. While mainstream vendors continue to fight a losing battle against malware, Returnil has taken a completely different approach to security. RVS 2010 clones (copies) the system partition and creates a virtual environment for your PC. Instead of loading the native operating system, a clone is loaded that allows you to run your application and perform your online activities in an entirely isolated environment. In this manner, your actual operating system is never affected by viruses, Trojans, malware and other security threats. To return to the actual operating system environment, you just need to restart your PC. After restart, the system will be restored to its original state, as if nothing ever happened.
Installation
Installation is easy following the installation wizard and you need to make a few selections during the process. You can select a complete scan to take place right away and choose data collection option.

A reboot is required to complete installation.

Features
System Safe is virtual protection technology and can operate manually or automatically. It protects your real system from unwanted malware changes. You can configure it when you need it or have it start during system boot up. If you want to make sure system changes remain in place you will need to check Save All Changes under Computer Shutdown.

While running in the virtual mode provided by the System Safe, you can still go into your actual hard drive and access those files.

Virus Guard provides real-time protection against Viruses, Trojans, Worms, Adware, Spyware, Keyloggers, and other forms of Malware.

Create a virtual disk to use while virtual protection is turned off.

Control the amount of disk space used for the virtual system.

Everything is easily accessed from the user interface.

Ease of Use
The Returnil user interface is nicely laid out and intuitive to use. All of the features like Virus Guard, System Safe, and other Tools are easy to work with from the main menu.

Progress and results are shown while scanning takes place.

Creating a virtual disk of whatever size you want is easy and you can have it boot up when the system starts.

Adjust each features settings in the preferences section.

By default there is a Returnil toolbar on the desktop you can use for faster access or can disable if you want.

Performance
We tested this on a Windows 7 computer with a dual core processor and 4GB of RAM and it ran smoothly with no noticeable lag while running multiple applications.

Conclusion
The concept of protecting your system with a virtual disk so malware cannot make system changes is effective, however, novice computer users might have a hard time grasping this principle. If you have been working for hours on documents, installing software, and setting up the system…if you don’t have the save all changes options checked, you will lose all of that work. If you don’t want to worry about the virtual settings all of the time, this utility is probably not a good choice. Though not a good choice for the home user, this is a great solution for a public computer or letting an inexperienced user or kid borrow your machine. If you loan out a laptop to a buddy and they infect it with a bunch of porn, just reboot and the system and it’s back how you had it.
