Overview

PCTools take their trusted PC security applications to Macs.  Contrary to popular belief Macs can get viruses and PC Tools has developed an Antivirus security solution.  Although virus detections are minimal there is a tendency towards socially engineered threats.  It is designed to detect and remove Mac specific threats. It does not contain any unnecessary information about Windows based threats.  It provides real-time protection and full system scanning.

iAntivirus is an easy install following the installation wizard.  You will be walked through the install steps and have extra security on your Mac in no time.

iAntiVirus is an easy to use security application that adds extra protection against viruses with no extra bloat, it simply gets the job done.  In the settings section you can select scan modes, change scheduling, view quarantined items, and set up scanning times.

In the scheduling sections you can set times to automatically update the virus database and how often to run a full scan the hard drive.

iAntiVirus has an intuitive interface and performing scans is an easy process.  From the main menu click on Scan my Mac to kick off the scan.  Notice here you can also activate Real-time protection.

There is nothing fancy about iAntiVirus but it does the job.  It will protect your Mac from a database of over 250 known Mac specific threats.  It performs very well finishing scans quickly and not taking up a lot of system resources.  They offer a free version and you can upgrade the license for $29.99 which includes commercial use, 24 hour phone support, all with a 30 day guarantee.  If you’re looking for a way to get solid protection on your Mac, iAntiVirus is a lightweight and powerful choice.
