Overview
GoodSync is a file backup and synchronization application that can automatically analyze and sync up your data between machines and hard drives. It uses an innovative synchronization algorithm to offer bi-directional sycs to prevent data loss. It also offers the ability to synchronize files between Windows Mobil devices, FTP and SFTP, WebDAV, and more.
Installation – 8
During installation there’s the ability to install it to your local hard drive or on to a portable drive so you can take it with you.
Features – 8
There are a number of features to check the main thing is the ability to do one-way backups and bi-directional synchronizations with just one application.

The ability to encrypt or compress the synchronization jobs.

Schedule synchronization and backup jobs to take place automatically.

Ease of Use – 8
When you start up a new job give it a name and select to perform a Backup or Synchronize task. A synchronization is going to ensure that folders and files remain in sync between machines. Backup is where files will be copied for long term storage. To start off it is a good idea to get a nice backup then synchronize after that.
Browse for the location of the data you want to backup which is called the Left folder. Notice you can choose jobs for a network, FTP, local computer and more.

Next choose the location where you want to backup or synchronize which is called the Right folder.

Click on the Analyze button to show the differences between the right and left folders.

Since this is my first backup to an empty folder all the differences will be show in the Right Folder. After everything is analyzed click on the Synchronize button

You can view the progress and the log window while the backup is taking place.

Performance – 8
In our tests it performed very well and takes up few system resources when running. For example when we backed up 5GB of data to an external hard drive took about 12 minutes which is not bad for the initial backup. When you synchronize your data after a backup it is much faster.

Product Support – 8
You can create a support ticket while using the app that will copy diagnostic info to better help the support techs come up with a solution.

They have a full product support center on their website that includes submitting online tickets, tutorials, FAQ, and email support.

Conclusion
GoodSync is a top quality backup and synchronization utility that will please advanced users and is easy enough for the home beginner. They offer a fully functional 30 day trial period then a Pro license is $29.95. If you continue to use the free version you can only run 3 jobs of 100 files or less. They offer both a 32 & 64 bit version and will run on Windows 2000, XP, Vista, and Windows 7.
