Overview
FILEminimizer Office (the new PPTminimizer) compresses PowerPoint, Word and Excel files and reduces the file size by up to 98% using an intelligent office file compression software technique which compresses pictures and embedded objects while still preserving the original file format and quality. The optimized office files are then much smaller, safer and ideal for sharing and sending via email. Recipients don’t need the software to edit or view the optimized files. Mailboxes, servers and networks are relieved and loading time is accelerated.
Installation
Installation is straight forward following the install wizard and one thing to note during the process is selecting which Add-ins to install.

After that is done you will be ready to start using the program.

If you purchased a license you’ll need to enter it in the first time you run FILEminimizer, but if you want to check it out first, you get 12 optimizations for the trial period.

Features
Compresses the size of PowerPoint and other Office documents a great deal while retaining the quality of the original.

An intuitive, nicely laid out interface which makes navigation very simple.

Install the optional Add-ins to use FILEminimizer from directly in your Office app.

Optimize single files quickly with a right click and the context menu.

A good amount of settings are available to control how it operates.

Available in multiple languages.

Ease of Use
Everything is extremely easy to use and even less experiences users should have no problem with it. The user interface is nicely laid out making navigation easy and optimization tasks intuitive to complete.

After you select the files you want to minimize selected just hit the Optimize Files button.

A progress display is shown along with the original file size, the new size, and percentage of reduction.

Sometimes you might have documents with embedded objects and you’ll be shown a screen advising of this and it lets you make the decision. If you go ahead with their “flattening” just remember that the embedded objects won’t be editable in the compressed version.

You can also go into the Settings and make your choice for all of the files you optimize.

When everything has finished you can go in and view the files, email them, or delete.

Performance
Like their FILEminimizer Photo utility, the performance is very good, and minimizing mutiple files is a breeze. Of course results will vary depending on the original file sizes and the the number you convert at a time. We ran it on a Windows 7 (32-bit) PC with an AMD Athlon dual core processor and it handled everything with no problems.

Product Support
They have a support section for each of their software products which includes FAQ and a contact form you can fill out and email to them for any help you need. Anytime we contacted them regarding the software, we received a reply within 24 hours.
Conclusion
This application is quite impressive as it reduces file size up to 98% while keeping great quality. Being able to optimize files in batches is also a winning point. In PowerPoint presentations we noticed the images are a bit fuzzy compared to the originals, but not to the point it’s going to be that big of a concern, unless your presenting to the CEO or something. They offer a trial of 12 optimizations and is $44.95 after that for a full license for single users and cheaper when buying multiple seats. We ran our tests on a Windows 7 system and it works with XP and Vista as well. If you’re a small business, school, or anyone looking for a way to send those large Office documents to others or post them on the web, FILEminimizer Office does a terrific job.
