BCC (Blind Carbon Copy) is such a great feature in email applications.  I love to be able to send messages to various contacts who probably do not want their email address shown to every one.

One of the text message utilities I have been using for years is Teleflip.  Rather than waste my money on text messaging friends and colleagues from my cell phone.  I use this service.  I find it much faster to type out a quick email to them than screwing around with the keys on my phone.  Just click on the image below to try out Teleflip.

Reader John wrote in today asking how to set Opera to open directly to the Speed Dial page… so after a bit of testing I figured it out, and am sharing with everybody else.

Well, I finally made it to the official Firefox 3 download site today at about 1pm CST and got the new version.  However, I am going to hold off on installation until I see how things pan out the next couple days.  Being a geek one would think I should start playing with it ASAP … but I have been through so many of these releases I guess I am not all that excited.  I might run it on a virtual machine.  I was interested enough to be part of the massive download day though!

If you are the type of person that likes to keep a lot of information stored in text-format files on your drive, you’ve probably encountered a scenario where you want to copy that information to the clipboard… so you open the file in notepad, select all, then copy to the clipboard. What if you could do it with a simple context menu item instead?

By default when replying to an message is Thunderbird, the original text appears above the area to compose the response.  Personally I am not a fan of this format.  Here is how to switch it so your reply appears above the original message.

The single biggest irritation in Windows 7 and Vista is the UAC (User Account Control) system, especially for people that do a lot of tweaking. When you are trying to make configuration changes, it seems like every couple of seconds you are hitting another UAC prompt. Sure, it’s more secure… but what options do we have to make it less annoying?
