Have Windows Notify You When You Accidentally Hit the Caps Lock Key

Don’t you hate it when you are typing an email, a report, or chatting on IM and halfway through… you (or the person you are shouting at) realizes you have caps lock on?

You can create a sound for the caps lock button when it is pressed so you will immediately know when it’s turned on.

To turn on this option, first go to Control Panel and click on the Accessibility Options icon.

In the resulting screen check the box next to “Use Toggle Keys”, click OK and you are done.

Now every time you hit the caps lock key you will get a friendly beep notifying you it has been pressed.

You peaked my interest in how this could be done with Windows Vista so I did some searching until I found it. Go to Control Panel >> Ease of Access Center >> Make the keyboard easier to use. There is one box for making the sounds come one. Thanks for getting me started!

This did not work for me. I followed the steps and no sound was heard when I pressed the Caps lock key. And yes, I do have my sound turned on (first thing I would have asked someone). Any other settings that need to be changed???

perhaps Chase and Pittaway have turned off system sounds (the one that has nothing to do with loudspeakers etc)…

I have been saveng this for when I got the new rig up and running. As soon as I followed the directiions it became functional. Thank you.
(Incidentally, I’ve misplaced the info for a software that would provide a hot key to reverse capitalizaton once you realized you had typed a slew of it. Guess I won’t need it until I’ve gone deaf).

“How we can disable Caps lock notification at the login time. Ex: Gmail login. Place your cursor on the password and press Capslock. you will see a notification. How to make it off?”

How do you just stop the notification? For the docs I type I frequently need to have the capslock on then off. The popup notification that happens on my new computer actually moves my cursor, so I have to stop typing, use the mouse to reposition, etc. It’s drive me NUTS! Is there a way to have the capslock work but turn off that annoying notification?
