Print Only Selected Text From Web Pages
When surfing the internet you undoubtedly will come across great information you want to print out. When printing from the internet you don’t have to waste paper and ink printing out the entire site page with images and advertisements. Just print out the information you want.
Highlight the specific information you want to print out with your mouse:

Now hit “CTRL+P” to launch the print menu, or File \ Print from the menu.

In this window “All” is selected by default. Change it by checking “Selection” then OK.
This will only print out the text you have highlighted and will work for specific images also. Just highlight the image and use the same process.
This should work in Firefox and Internet Explorer.

I’ve looked at that print dialog hundreds of times, and just never realized you could do that.
Thanks for the tip!
This method does not print the input fields that are in a form. How to print the text in the input fields also together with other text in Windows Firefox without printing the whole web page?
tapio,
Just move your mouse to that the text and the input fields are highlighted and follow the steps. You can also copy and paste what you want into a Word document.
Thank you , Most helpful

Thank you for a much needed tip!
@ Sarah You have very welcome! Trust me … you are not the only one who looks at the dialog boxes and not notice something. I probably do that 2-3x a day! :-)
Great tip, thought I would need to download a program!
Well, you can add me to the list of those who had no clue what “selection” meant in the print dialog box! I love simple but effective revelations such as this! Thanks for the tip!
This is a good tip .Been using for awhile. The only thing is it print in too small text.
Fantastic tip – thanks!
To bad it doesn’t work on Google Chrome
I have printed out selected portions of internet messages for years. My problem is controlling the SIZE of the type in the selections. Often, they print out in a very small size — maybe 6 pt. How can I make them larger and readable?
My print selection option does not work. I use Google Chrome. Please help.
Thanks
Anna

For MAC Firefox users. In printing window open pull down menu that usualy shows Copies & Pages and select option ‘Firefox’. There you’ll see selection button ‘Print Selection Only’.
Enjoy!

I have wasted so much paper and tried to install so many extensions just to print what I’ve highlighted. Thanks a billion for this tip, You’re the Boss!!!
Is this sarcasm or something? I found that out myself when I still used Windows 98 (now using Fedora Linux). Are there really people who do not read the options in a dialog that might possible waste money (by printing to much)?
When I select multiple text thru the web page by hiitting ctrl, it will print what i highlighted, but will still leave space between the highlighted text where there were words. Is there anyway to have it print without those spaces without having to copy then paste to word and delete them manually?
When I print a selected area of web page, it doesn’t fit to the paper. The end of each page are cut off. Is there any solution?
You guys are great .
