I don't have the option to upgrade, in the software updates it does not give me the option of upgrading to 6.10. Is there something somehwere that has to be enabled?

When I try to do the upgrade, it downloads 35 of the 37 required packages, but fails to get the ones below:

Failed to fetch http://packages.freecontrib.org/ubuntu/plf/dists/dapper/Release.gpg Could not connect to packages.freecontrib.org:80 (88.191.33.6), connection timed out
Failed to fetch http://givre.cabspace.com/ubuntu/dists/dapper/main/binary-i386/Packages.bz2 Sub-process bzip2 returned an error code (2)
Failed to fetch http://givre.cabspace.com/ubuntu/dists/dapper/main-all/binary-i386/Packages.bz2 Sub-process bzip2 returned an error code (2)

When it fails to get these ones, the upgrade is aborted automatically :-(

Does anyone know what I should do? Any help much appreciated.

I did all these steps but I continue with the same version dapper.

I downloaded 64 packages, reboot and with this command I get
cat /etc/issue

Ubuntu 6.06

What happened?

Fabio,

I'm sorry to hear about your upgrade troubles. I have heard from a lot of users having problems with the Edgy upgrade.

If you do figure out what happened, I would love to hear back from you as to the reason.

Complete disaster...

My Compaq M700 laptop wont boot anymore, regardless of what I try... I goes straight to a blank screen and freezes up...

I would imagine I might have run into a Xorg compatibility/configuration problem, since it's video card is ATI, but I can't even get a shell interface.

I am about to complete to download for the CD image and I'll try a fresh full reinstall. Hopefully I'll have my hardware back alive.

The alternative would be to run back for Dapper (6.06) and stick to it for ever... or at least till 7.04 release.

So far, 6.10 seemed worse than the original Ubuntu beta I've tried.
