Restart the Ubuntu Gnome User Interface Quickly

If you want to quickly restart X Windows on Ubuntu, Debian, or pretty much any version of linux, all you have to do is hit this key combination quickly:

Ctrl+Alt+Backspace

If you are using VMware, you’ll want to change your default VMware shortcut keys, because they will interfere.

Update: Make sure that you save your work before doing this.

    a command like for this ? so i set up a desktop script ?

    here is the command line to do this from terminal

    sudo /etc/init.d/gdm restart

    i suggest to disable the keys combination… in case you do it by mistake and you were in middle of something.. :)
